Real-Time economy is an environment where transactions of all sorts are digital, increasingly generated automatically and completed in real time. The path towards RTE comprises of steps each of which contributes to the digitalization of business processes with considerable monetary and environmental savings. For example, e-invoicing indeed produces 238 bn€ yearly savings in process costs according to the EU. However, RTE is more than business process automation or financial value chain automation; it’s about bringing a new perspective to the economy. Digitized services and real-time transactions increase transparency, networking and collaboration in business.
RTE community is a joint collaboration between Helsinki School of Economics (HSE), Tieto and Dicole produced in Real-Time Economy program. RTE program is a joint program between HSE and Tieto. The first project of the program was Full SEPA (20.10.2006-31.3.2008) which focused on payments and e-invoicing, the second was Full Value Chain (1.1.-31.12.2008) which broadened the focus to other value chain processes. The third project is Fully Integrated Accounting (1.1.2009-30.6.2010) which will focus on e-accounting, e-archiving and e-auditing. All the RTE projects are partly funded by TEKES (the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation).
