Heavyweight support for Global ISO-standard created

This is the global support from SWIFT that the market needs. As seen from the work with the Single European Payment Area it is necessary to get a network standard in place first - and then make the market create end-to-end harmonization. This will happen faster if enterprises using these services and regulators see and drive the big picture - and service providers go for the inevitable network interoperability models.

This should also end the debates on:

- if a global network standard for e-invoicing is needed - and if Europe should not be the first to deploy

- if the ISO20022 e-invoice message standard - based on ISO methodology, processes and change request procedures - is in some way less of a standard in the real sense than the ISO20022 SEPA-payment standard - created in the same way

- if the ISO20022 e-invoicing standard is in some way meant to be used only by service providers from the banking sector - certainly not the case. So now it is very much up to all service providers to adopt it - before regulators have to do it (like SEPA). I am sure all will side with this - preferably publicly - and as soon as possible.

New business reporting code was launched

The standard business reporting scheme was developed to make it easier for companies to report their mandatory business information to various government units, including the Tax Office and the Statistics Finland. The reporting scheme is easy to use and up to date, containing all the mandatory business reporting requirements in Finland.

The reporting scheme was one the results in Real-Time Economy (RTE) program and Fully Integrated Accounting project. Standardizing the reporting practices saves time for both the receivers of the reports (e.g. Tax Office and Statistics Finland) as well as the companies.

The standard business reporting scheme was created by the RTE program in collaboration with Aalto University, Association of Finnish Accounting Firms, Statistics Finland, Tax Administration, Tieto, Aditro as well as various other institutions.

The standard business reporting scheme is managed and updated by Reporting Board and is available at http://www.raportointikoodisto.fi/ (in Finnish).

Four-corner model and interoperability critical success factors for electronic invoicing

Electronic invoicing is typically an innovation that enjoys important positive network effects. The more companies we get into the electronic invoicing network, the more valuable is the technology for the nodes in the network. Just like telephone network, fax network, facebook etc. Metcalfe's law states that the value of such a network is proportional to the square of the number of connected users of the system (n²). I see that the only way to guarantee the participation of most companies to the network is the four-corner model, and efficient and effective interoperability between the operators. This is not the case in the US where it seems that the three-corner model is dominant (along with EDI practices) and network-based electronic invoicing almost non-existing.

Taloushallinnon työt monipuolistuvat ja luovat mielenkiintoisempia töitä, kun rutiinityöt vaihtuvat laajempien kokonaisuuksien hallintaan. Yritysten taloushallintoon kuuluu kuitenkin edelleen paljon turhaa manuaalisesti tehtävää työtä, joka voitaisiin tulevaisuudessa hoitaa automatisoidummin ja reaaliajassa oikeiden välineiden ollessa käytössä.

Dimes, Tieto ja Aalto-yliopiston kauppakorkeakoulu käynnistivät Real-Time Economy (RTE) –ohjelman vuonna 2006. Ohjelman tarkoituksena on edistää taloushallinnon prosessien ja palveluiden sähköistämistä ja reaaliaikaistamista yhteistyössä laajan sidosryhmäverkoston kanssa. Tavoitteena on myös saada aikaan yleisesti hyväksyttyjä käytäntöjä ja toimintatapoja alalle sekä kouluttaa tulevaisuuden osaajia.

jonka tehtävänä on hallinnoida RTE-ohjelmaa ja viedä sitä eteenpäin yhdessä innostavan projektitiimin kanssa. Projektikoordinaattorilla on keskeinen rooli RTE-verkoston ylläpitämisessä ja ohjelmalle asetettujen tavoitteiden saavuttamisessa. Tärkeimpinä tehtävinä ovat yhteydenpito eri sidosryhmiin, projektinhallinta ja raportointi Tekesille, viestintä sekä RTE Community –verkkoyhteisön tukeminen.

Maventa.com rapidly gaining momentum across Finnish SMEs

Instead of dealing with cumbersome implementation procedures or complex format conversions, Maventa takes care of the heavy-lifting on behalf of the customer. Key differentiators from the Finnish Banks include among others: Plug&Play in 10 minutes, Format validations and conversions, Company's own design on their invoices, inclusion of any type of attachments, trade acknowledgements, long-time storage and digital signatures. The banking network is not capable of delivering anything else than the finnish niche-standard Finvoice, which has several shortcomings from a digital trading perspective. 99.998% of all invoices were accurately delivered and processed by the recipients in 2009 - which gives an insight on the level of data-correctness we are able to produce. Our current platform is capable of 18,000 independent transactions / second.

Maventa's aim is to simplify the e-invoicing landscape in to a transparent cloud service, which can be utilized on any software or service. Our service is designed to scale from one-man consulting companies to multinational conglomerates and has been audited by 3 independent IT-security consulting firms.

We are completely format, language and location agnostic which makes us usable in any environment (SAP, Oracle, IFS, Adage, MS Dynamics, QuickBooks, Sage.. just to name few). The financial system is directly connected to the Maventa cloud, extending its current capabilities to electronic invoicing. Purchase invoices are automatically synchronized from the Maventa account directly to the financial system without any additional functionalities needed. The conventionally static financial software becomes a networked tool with real-time transparency to the corporate financial processes. Acknowledgements between senders and the receivers allow the parties to be certain of the delivery. The archaic paper invoicing process, which can last up to months, can be narrowed down to minutes with our technology.

Maventa determines the most cost-efficient route for the invoice, with the least favorable option as a ground-mail paper invoice. All Maventa internal transactions are completely free of charge. No recurring or administrative fees apply to holding or setting-up an account. Sending electronic invoices to 3rd party operators cost from 0.05 euros to 0.25 euros per transaction. Receiving electronic invoices from any 3rd party operator is free of charge.
