Two drivers for mobile payments
How to develop user experience in a way that increase individual end-user productivity and satisfaction (e.g. simple and faster tool for end-user)How to increase operational efficiency by digitalizing how payment process (e.g. abandon of plastic card issuing)
Making payments using a mobile phone is not a new idea itself. I would like to pointed out payment is just a tool and it needs relevant end-user services to be valuable – something what end-user want to buy by using mobile device.
Here is one idea for new kind of mobile service: mobile shopping
What do you think?
The mobile shopping network sure would be one huge platform. You'd have to have a considerable portion of all the goods sold in a country included in the database so that users would get enough positive hits. The platform would have to start out from an industry that has a limited amount of SKU's but still frequent purchases. Groceries?
Still, another challenge is that vendors don't want to undifferentiate their retail service and compete on price and delivery/location alone. There would be major negative network externalities on the subsidy side of the network, when perhaps only the lowest price would get the sale. The service would have to incorporate means of differentiation to the customer offers.
