In today's economic tide it seems to be a less arduous task for HR to find suitable recruits, more jobseekers and just less jobs to pick from. HR in companies needs to be prepared for good economic time, when the conditions on the labor market are less favorable to them.
If the highest quality of recruitment should be a company's strategic goal and companies set out to align their organization to their business strategy, it would for them not to do this on the issue of recruitment
If most jobs are obtained through a person's social network; it would be wise for HR departments to be proactive and piggyback ride on the social network of your employees. One step is to increase employee ownership by introducing more transparency in the recruitment process.
Increasing active involvement can also have a beneficial effect. Using employees as recruitment agents (giving hiring bonuses), preempting hiring opportunities by constituting a list of shadow candidates for posts (possibly through recommendations). Also former employees (alumni network), customers suppliers and other shareholders could be part of that extended family. And why not crowdsource job requirements?
