My idea rises from informal discussion going across the boundaries inside the companies and fragmented nature of information in social medias. My five cents to Social Media Challenge would be internal communication tool that would encourage and facilitate in creating innovative business models. This would include two different tools integrated together, forum 2.0 and business model tool.
Forum 2.0 would a tool to share information, raise ideas and discuss with the help of social media features like rating, personalization, tagging, RSS feeds and sharing with user-friendly user interface. The main idea of this kind of the forum would be to raise the most interesting and popular discussion on top so that this knowledge could be shared and commented by as many people as possible. By tagging and organizing the discussion topics the fragmented information would be better in use among people and management.
I have seen this kind of forums used in some companies as internal communication tool. The problem I see in this kind of forums is to how to use the fragmented and massive amount of information to create value inside the company? My succession would be to integrate business model tool aside the forum to gather and organize the ideas for business ideas. For example Osterwalder (2009) business model framework could be used in technology oriented business models. This model defines components of business model under four main frames like infrastructure, offering, customers and finances. Using relevant components of business model concept the discussion in the forums can be directed to more relevant business oriented way. One example of this kind of tool is by Osterwalder (2009) http://bmdesigner.com/. This would be one way to control, gather and utilize the information flood people are creating via social Medias today.
