Declining to accept paper and PDF invoices is already a reality in the Nordic countries. Many more corporations, municipalities and state treasuries are starting to refuse paper invoices as e-invoicing provides a more efficient alternative.

According to the Swedish Bankers Association the total amount of B2C e-invoices increased by 44 % during the years 2007–2008 in Sweden. The total amount of e-invoices sent to the Swedish consumers was 26 million in 2008. Internet bank payments are also becoming more popular in Sweden. The Federation of Finnish Financial Services (FKL) launched today an e-invoicing campaign for consumers in collaboration with the Finnish banks and several companies who send over 1 million invoices per year.
The main goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of consumer's e-invoice and its benefits. Bill Virtanen, a virtual e-invoicing expert, has been hired for the campaign to answer consumers' questions in Suomi24.fi -portal.
